Paris: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on his journey to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Saturday after concluding his productive two-day visit to France.
PM Modi described his time in France as “memorable” and emphasised the special significance of his participation in the Bastille Day celebrations. He expressed his gratitude to French President Emmanuel Macron and the French people for their warm reception and hospitality.
During his stay in France, PM Modi attended the Bastille Day Parade as the Guest of Honour, at the invitation of President Macron, on the renowned Champs-Elysees. The Indian Prime Minister also engaged in a bilateral meeting with President Macron, where they reviewed the broad spectrum of their countries’ ties. Additionally, PM Modi and President Macron met with prominent CEOs to explore avenues for diversifying business cooperation.
President Macron hosted a banquet dinner at the Louvre Museum in honour of Prime Minister Modi. Furthermore, the Indian Prime Minister held meetings with Yael Braun-Pivet, President of the French National Assembly, and other prominent leaders of the National Assembly. As a testament to the strengthening of bilateral relations, PM Modi was bestowed with France’s highest honour, the Grand Cross of the Legion of Honour, by President Macron.
Concluding his visit to France, PM Modi departed for Abu Dhabi, recognising the significant engagement between India and the UAE across various sectors, including fintech, defence, security, and energy. During his visit to the UAE, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Highlighting the UAE’s upcoming role, PM Modi revealed that the country would host the 28th Conference of Parties of the UNFCC (COP-28) later this year. He expressed his anticipation for discussions on strengthening global cooperation to expedite climate action, facilitate the energy transition, and implement the Paris Agreement. PM Modi expressed confidence that his visit to the UAE would open a new chapter in their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
