Srinagar: In a significant operation, security officials successfully arrested two terrorist associates associated with the banned Pakistan-based outfit, Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), at a bus stop in Kreeri village, located in Baramulla district. The apprehension took place following a joint effort by the Baramulla Police and 29 RR (Rashtriya Rifles), based on specific information about the movement of terrorists in the area.

The arrested individuals were identified as Dayem Majeed Khan and Ubair Tariq, who were suspected to be terror facilitators or linkmen for the LeT. As the joint naka party confronted them, the suspects attempted to escape but were tactfully apprehended.

During the subsequent interrogation, the terrorist associates confessed their affiliation with LeT and revealed their involvement in procuring arms and ammunition for a planned targeted killing in the Baramulla district. As part of the operation, security personnel recovered two China-made pistols, two pistol magazines, 14 live pistol rounds, one ID card, and a photocopy of an Aadhar card from the apprehended individuals.

Both suspects are now in custody, and a case has been registered against them under the Indian Arms Act and the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) at the Kreeri Police Station. The investigation is currently ongoing to gather more information and insights related to their activities and connections.
