Mumbai: On Sunday morning, the Mumbai Police received a distressing call reporting a potential serial bomb blast aboard a train in the city’s financial hub. The caller, communicating with the Mumbai control room, asserted that a bomb had been planted on a local train. A female police officer on the call attempted to extract further details from the caller, but he failed to provide specific information and abruptly terminated the call, citing his location as the Vile Parle area of Juhu.
Subsequent efforts to trace the caller’s phone pinpointed the call’s origin to Juhu. However, the caller promptly powered down the device. Due to the gravity of the situation, authorities promptly alerted the relevant police station to heighten security measures. An ongoing investigation is in progress to ascertain the circumstances.
In response to the incident, Juhu Police took action and apprehended the caller, 25-year-old Ashok Shankar Mukhiya. A case was filed against him for making the call. Police officials revealed that Mukhiya had made the call while under the influence of alcohol.
This occurrence follows a similar incident on the previous day when an unidentified caller issued a hoax bomb threat to the Mumbai Police. The caller warned of a potential explosion or untoward incident at both Mumbai and Delhi’s domestic and international airports. A police station from a different state alerted the Mumbai Police control room about the claim made by the unidentified caller.
