‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign to honour fallen soldiers of our nation; students in Gujarat forms human chain in the form of Indian map

Surat: As Indians readies themselves to commemorate its 76th year of independence, spirited preparations have unfurled across the nation. In Surat, the students of Sri Swami Narayana Gurugula Vidyalaya have embarked on a vibrant celebration of Independence Day, weaving a poignant message of unity.

These young minds orchestrated a human chain formation on Wednesday, ingeniously crafting the outline of India’s map. This creative endeavour symbolised the resonant slogan ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ (My Soil, My Country), serving as a heartfelt tribute to the valiant soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the defence of the nation.

In a concerted effort to honour these heroes, the Central Government has announced the launch of the nationwide ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign, slated to unfold from August 9th to 30th. This campaign, resounding with the spirit of remembrance, will encompass a series of events, reaching the grassroots and extending to local urban bodies, states, and the national level. The grand culmination of this campaign is set to take place at Kartavya Path in Delhi on August 30th.

At the core of the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign lies a tapestry of programs crafted to commemorate the brave souls who dedicated their lives to the nation. The installation of Shilaphalakams (memorial plaques) within village panchayats will be a poignant tribute to these valiant individuals. This campaign stands as the crowning jewel of the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ a momentous initiative launched on March 12, 2021, marked by an extraordinary 2 lakh programs organised across the expanse of India.

Prime Minister in the recent Mann Ki Baat broadcast underscored the profound public engagement that has permeated the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav,’ affirming its significance. As the ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’ campaign unfolds with fervour, discussions are underway to install commemorative stone plaques in village panchayats, etching the names of the brave soldiers into the fabric of the nation’s memory. This initiative weaves a powerful narrative of unity, resilience, and homage, underscoring India’s unwavering commitment to cherishing and preserving the legacy of its heroes.
