New Delhi : In a resounding display of national pride, the Indian Navy commemorated the 77th Independence Day by unfurling the tricolour deep in the heart of the Bay of Bengal, near the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The underwater hoisting of the national flag was executed by Navy divers, accentuating the spirit of unity and patriotism that defined the nation’s historic day.

The ceremonial event witnessed the participation of not only Navy divers but also members of the Indian Coast Guard, who joined hands to honour the country’s sovereignty and freedom. The collective effort to hoist the flag beneath the ocean’s surface was a powerful symbol of the commitment of these maritime guardians to uphold India’s values and traditions.

The Eastern Fleet of the Indian Navy is also actively engaged in the nationwide “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign. On the missile destroyer INS Rana, stationed within the fleet, the tricolour was raised, standing as a testament to the navy’s dedication to the country’s security and prosperity. Throughout the nation, both citizens and servicemen paid homage to the memory of those who had made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation’s well-being.

In the vibrant city of Chennai, the Coast Guard orchestrated a tricolour boat rally as part of the Independence Day celebrations. This unique initiative resonated with the essence of “Har Ghar Tiranga,” as the Coast Guard distributed national flags to local fishermen, residents, and students.

The Coast Guard’s celebrations were not confined to the waters alone. Iconic locations like the Pamban Bridge, Rameswaram Temple, Dhanushkodi, and the Indo-Sri Lanka International Maritime Boundary Line were illuminated with the vibrancy of the national flag.
