Jammu: A forest fire broke out in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) has spread to the Indian side along Line of Control (LoC), specifically in the Balakote sector of the Mendhar sub-division in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district. Security forces are on high alert to thwart potential infiltration attempts by terrorists using the fire as cover, according to officials on Saturday.
The fire, which broke out in PoK late Friday night, has now spread upon the forest area along the LoC. Authorities have sounded an alert along the border to prevent any infiltration bids amid the ongoing blaze. Army troops stationed along the LoC are actively engaged in firefighting efforts to control and extinguish the spreading flames, the officials added.
