Colombo: Sri Lankan Minister of State for Water Supply, Sanath Nishantha (48), and his security personnel were killed in a road accident on the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway (CKE) today.
It is reported that the Minister’s vehicle collided with a container truck at 2 am (Sri Lankan time) on the CKE. The Minister, security personnel, and driver were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Sources have indicated that Minister Sanath Nishantha and his security personnel died on the spot. The driver’s condition remains critical and is being treated in the hospital’s intensive care unit.
Sanath Nishantha has been a Member of Parliament since 2015, representing the Puttalam district.
