Bareilly: A Muslim woman has chosen to renounce Islam, citing concerns over Islamic laws such as ‘triple talaq’ and ‘nikah halala’. Sonam Siddiqui, a resident of Dewraniya village in Bareilly, adopted Sanatan Dharma and changed her name to Lakshmi.

She married her friend Vishnu Mourya at a temple in Bareilly following Hindu religious customs. The couple also shared the marriage function photos on social media. It is also said that she will shift to Vishnu Mourya’s residential area in Girdharpur.

Vishnu Mourya runs a pesticide shop in Girdharpur. She said that her fear of triple talaq and nikah halala was the main reason for adopting Sanatana Dharma. She said that she has faith in Lord Sree Ram since her childhood. She added that she will visit the Ayodhya Ram Temple with her husband Vishnu Mourya.
