New Delhi: Indian Railways is preparing for the launch of the country’s first bullet train project, slated to commence operations by June–July 2026. This project will mark the inauguration of Bharat’s first-ever bullet train service, linking Mumbai in Maharashtra with Ahmedabad in Gujarat.
The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train corridor spans 508 kilometres and will offer two types of services: limited-stop and all-stop. The limited-stop services will make only a select number of halts, completing the journey in two hours. Conversely, the all-stop services will make stops at every station along the route, extending the travel time by an additional 45 minutes.
Significant progress has been made on the corridor over the past year, with over 100 kilometres of the viaduct (elevated stretch) already completed. Additionally, six river bridges have been constructed to facilitate smooth travel. In the Gujarat portion of the route, 20 bridges are planned, with seven already completed.
