Gandhi Nagar: Despite standing at just 3 feet tall, Ganesh Baraiya from Gujarat has defied all obstacles to fulfill his dream of becoming a doctor. Currently practicing at Gujarat’s Bhavnagar Government hospital, Ganesh’s journey to success has been marked by perseverance and resilience.
Ganesh’s aspirations were challenged few years ago when the Indian Medical Council (MCI) deemed him ineligible for pursuing an MBBS degree due to his height. But determined, he embarked on a legal battle, rallying support from various quarters including his school principal, district collector, and state education minister.
Although his initial efforts suffered setbacks, Ganesh’s determination remained unshaken. Despite an unfavorable ruling from the Gujarat High Court, he pressed forward and appealed to the Supreme Court. His perseverance bore fruit when the apex court ruled in his favor, allowing him to enroll as an MBBS student in 2019 after missing the 2018 admission cycle.
Having completed his studies, Ganesh Baraiya now serves as a doctor at the Bhavnagar Government hospital, a testament to his unwavering spirit and indomitable willpower.
