Banking sector revamp; new job titles and wage hike set to take effect from April 1

New Delhi: Starting April 1, banks across Bharat will adopt new titles for various positions, with significant wage increases for employees. This decision follows an agreement signed between the Indian Bank Association and bank employees’ unions.

Under the revised structure, the following changes in job titles will take effect:

Clerk → Customer Service Associate (CSA)
Peon → Office Assistant
Head Peon → Special Office Assistant
Head Cashier → Senior Customer Service Associate
Bill Collector → Senior Office Assistant
Sweeper → House Keeper
Electrician/ AC Plant Helper → Office Assistant Tech
Special Assistant → Special Customer Service Associate

In addition to the name changes, a significant wage hike of 17 percent has been announced. The increment for stagnation, received once every two years upon reaching the maximum pay scale, has been increased from nine times to 11 times.

Clerical employees will witness a substantial hike of Rs 2,680 every two years, compared to the previous Rs 1,990. Sub staff members will receive a raise of Rs 1,345, up from Rs 1000 previously. Furthermore, an annual allowance of Rs 500 for eye examinations will be provided. Additionally, individuals earning up to Rs 18,000 per month will be recognized as dependents of employees.
