Bengaluru : Karnataka Speaker K. R. Ramesh Kumar resigned after the BJP government proved its majority in the House. The BJP was about to move no confidence motion against Kumar if he had not resigned.
The Yeddyurappa government, with the support of 106 MLAs, proved its majority in the confidence vote.
The Speaker had disqualified all 17 rebels on Sunday, an action that reduces the majority mark in the assembly and paved the way for the newly formed BJP government to win the trust vote smoothly today. The government has proved the majority by voice vote.
