Thiruvananthapuram: Three Student Federation of India (SFI) leaders, accused in the University College stabbing case, have been removed from the rank list of the Public Service Commission (PSC). They were on the PSC Constable rank list and would have been inducted into the police department.

The SFI leaders Sivaranjith, Nazeem, and Pranav who are struck out from the rank list were communist student leaders at the University College in Thiruvananthapuram. They were held for stabbing a SFI member for singing in the campus and for questioning their authority.

The move comes after the PSC Vigilance Department discovered that the SFI leaders cheated during the PSC exam. The leaders had used modern technology to cheat in the exam and score good marks to get on the rank list. PSC has confirmed their culpability in the case and believes that the trio used mobile phones during the exam and got answers through SMS.

The Commission has also decided to hand over the report to the police so that they can register a crime case against them and investigate further about the involvement of anybody else in the examination hall.

The PSC has also announced that all the three SFI leaders are barred from appearing for PSC exams in the future.

After the SFI leaders were caught in the stabbing case their criminal activities came out into the light. University exam answer sheets were discovered from the house of one of the accused and also from the SFI unit office functioning in the college.

It was at this time that reports came out that these leaders’ names were on the rank list of the PSC which evoked suspicions. Today’s revelation by the PSC comes after it decided to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
