Thiruvanandapuram : Chicken price hiked to a peak of Rs.138/Kg as of today. Import of chicken from other states has declined, is the reason for the increase in the price says the sellers.Chicken costs 93/kg, within days the price accelerated to 138 with an increase of Rs.45/Kg.
After introducing GST there was dip in chicken price. Post flood consumption of chicken in Kerala dropped, which resulted in limited import. These happenings in turn resulted in the hike of the price.
The government has to take initiatives to increase the domestic production of chicken otherwise the price will increase again discloses the sellers.
