Kannur: The coronavirus cases in Kannur district have surged to 80, after one more case was reported through contact. Due to the rising numbers in the district, the administration is on high alert.
Seventy-year-old woman from Muriyad who was under observation at home was diagnosed with the disease. She is the wife of an 87-year-old resident of Muriyaad who was infected with the virus on April 11. On April 12, their swab samples were taken for testing at Ancharakandi Corona hospital. It is believed that they were infected from their son who had returned from abroad. However, the son’s results had turned out to be negative.
Currently, there are 7013 people in the district suspected of coronavirus infection. 56 people are under observation at Government Medical College, Kannur, 15 at Kannur District Hospital, and 9 at Thalassery General Hospital, 35 at Ancharakandi Corona Centres and 6898 at home.
