Kochi : The High Court has questioned the Government as who has given the right to the police force to beat the devotees, who led the strike to protect the faith in Sabarimala? The second question to follow was, why the Government took no action against the policemen, who attacked the devotees and destroyed the vehicles? The court made its observations, on the basis of a petition filed by a group of lawyers, who are devotees of Ayyappa.

The court asked, what violence or criminal activity were the vehicles damaged involved in? The court also directed the Government, to take action against the policemen, using the video footage available, like how the police took action against devotees, by fetching the video footage of the protest. The police had failed to produce before the court the video footage of all the arrested, instead they have presented only a couple of photographs.

The court instructed the State to take the same actions, against the policemen, as the proceedings taken against the devotees, who were involved in the strike. Court mentioned the act of blocking the media in Pampa as unjustifiable. The court added that, neither the devotee, nor the media should be prevented, in the name of law and order. The court concluded with another question, that is embedded in each of us : was the press restricted to implement something else in Sabarimala?
