Thrissur: DYFI leader has been arrested for raping a fourth standard student. Sarath, a native of Engandiyoor and DYFI are joint secretary’s arrest comes four months after the incident. The complaint was given to the police on December 1, last year.
Despite giving statements to the magistrate by the minor girl and producing bawdy videos of the accused by the mother, the police did not take any action for four months. Though DYFI took disciplinary action against him, the accused was under the shield of CPM.
According to police, the accused was hiding in his relative’s house at Choondal, near Guruvayoor. From there, the police caught hold of him early morning today.
Currently, the case has been registered under Sections of 11 and 12 of POCSO Act and IPC 354 A.
