Return of expats: Four flights to arrive in Kerala on Thursday

New Delhi: Indian nationals who are stranded abroad due to COVID-19 crisis will be reaching the country from Thursday. Four flight services to Kerala will be operational on that day. Two flights will be coming from UAE and a flight each from Qatar and Saudi Arabia will reach Kerala.

Reportedly there would be 64 flights landing in 10 different states in the country. Indians living in 12 countries will be brought back to the country at the moment. It is expected to bring back 14,800 expats in the first week.

The travel would be arranged by aircraft and naval ships. The Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) has been prepared in this regard.

Indians from countries like UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Malaysia, USA, Singapore, UK, Bangladesh, Philipines will be brought back in the first week.

Abu Dhabi- Kochi, Dubai- Kozhikode, Riyadh- Kozhikode, Doha- Kochi are flights that are scheduled to arrive in Kerala on Thursday. On Friday, flight from Bahrain will reach Kochi and on Saturday, flights from Oman and Kuwait will land in Kochi.

Flight from Doha to Thiruvananthapuram and Singapore flight to Kochi is scheduled on the fourth day. On the fifth day, Damam- Kochi, Mamama- Kozhikode and Dubai- Kochi flights will land in Kerala.

The flight from Kuala Lumpur will reach Kochi on the sixth day. And on the final day, Kuwait- Kozhikode and Jeddah- Kochi flights will land in Kerala.

On reaching the destination, everyone would have to register on the Arogya Setu app. Everyone would be medically screened. After scrutiny, they would be quarantined for 14 days, either in a hospital or in an institutional quarantine on payment-basis, by the concerned State government. COVID test would be done after 14 days and further action would be taken according to health protocols.
