Kochi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has informed the High Cout that it has taken over the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case. The Central government’s standing counsel informed the High Court of Kerala.
The Centre left the case to the NIA as it was a matter of national security. The central government decided to leave the case to the NIA after scrutiny by national agencies. The case was already suspected of terrorist links. It was against this backdrop that the Centre referred the case to the NIA.
The NIA will also investigate the source of the money received through gold smuggling.
