Sulthan Bathery: Police seized 54,000 packets of banned tobacco products smuggled in a lorry. Based on the tip-off received to Wayanad Excise Intelligence, Sulthan Bathery range and the Excise Intelligence conducted a joint search in Bathery town and seized the banned tobacco products in a lorry.
The tobacco products were smuggled in 36 bags under the guise of a jaggery load. The tobacco products worth Rs 50 lakh were seized.
Driver Mohammad Jamsheer and his accomplice Abdul Basheer KK were arrested in the incident and a case has been registered against the accused.
