Kochi: Of the total 230 kg of gold smuggled through Thiruvananthapuram airport, only 30 kg could be seized. A hunt to find the remaining 200 kg of gold has begun.
Last year in June, a dummy test was carried out prior to gold smuggling. The first to be sent were home appliances. Further Faisal Fareed had sent gold to Kerala 13 times through diplomatic luggage, according to latest findings.
Apart from Faisal Fareed, Sarith and Swapna Suresh also acted as intermediaries for other gold smugglers. Gold was smuggled in the same way for them.
The probe team has found Ramis as the mastermind behind the gold smuggling. Ramis, who is in remand, will be taken into customs custody on Tuesday.
