Thiruvananthapuram: BJP state President K Surendran on Wednesday while speaking to media lashed out at the CPM government for their atrocities on the journalists and party leaders while protesting outside the Secretariat.

The protest was against the alleged deliberate fire in the Secretariat to destroy crucial files and documents of high-profile gold smuggling case.

Surendran said that the accused Sarith, Sandeep and Swapna Suresh can go to the Secretariat at any point of time but we are detained by the police if tried to get into the office.

BJP state chief also slammed Minister E P Jayarajan for accusing him for no reason claiming that Surendran was responsible behind the fire at the Protocol department.

The government should explain as to why the journalists were being removed yesterday from the spot. Surendran also asked the journalists union for their silence on the issue.

The BJP and the Congress have repeatedly stated that there is a conspiracy behind the fire. The BJP and the Congress are staging statewide protests today over the incident.
