Kochi: The CBI has issued summons to the Crime Branch demanding to produce case diary in connection with the Periya twin murder case. The CBI summoned the Crime Branch DySP as per the CrPC section 91.
Despite seeking for documents for about seven times, the Crime Branch failed to produce the documents that insisted CBI to issue the summons. Apart from the DySP, the CBI has also filed an application in the Kochi CJM court seeking documents of the case.
It is a rare case of instance where a state agency has been given notice under CrPC 91.
However, the Crime Branch contends that no final verdict has come from the Supreme Court in the case. That is why the case documents were not handed over, officials said.
