Kochi: According to latest reports, many people with political links are likely to be arrested in connection with the gold smuggling case. This comes after Koduvally Municipal councillor Karat Faizal was arrested the other day.
It has been found that Faizal has shared his assets earned through gold smuggling, among his friends in politics. Customs have found that Faizal used to deliver gold to the jewelleries in Koduvally.
The crucial statements from another accused K T Ramees and Sandeep Nair’s wife Soumya helped to crack down on Karat Faizal. Soumya had revealed that Sandeep and Faizal kept in touch and always engaged in phone calls.
Following this, Customs started to keep an eye on Faizal. Ramees revealed to the probe tea, that he had smuggled gold Faizal many times and even mentioned the dates when he carried out the smuggling operations.
