Thiruvananthapuram: The investigation in the case of Swapna Suresh embezzling Rs 20 lakh using a fake certificate in the IT department may be handed over to vigilance. The move comes in the wake of the government finding that the treasury has suffered a loss.
Swapna Suresh, the gold smuggling case accused, who worked in Space Park that falls under the IT department, with a fake degree certificate had also extorted money. It was found that she had earned Rs 20 lakh in six months after getting the appointment in 2019. The salary was three lakh rupees a month.
Now it has to be found that how much was the commission in the salary of Swapna Suresh. However, the government is considering handing over the probe to Vigilance on the grounds that it has lost Rs 20 lakh from the treasury. The Thiruvananthapuram City Police sought legal advice to clarify the matter.
