Kannur : Kannur International airport inaugurated. Minister of Commerce Suresh Prabhu and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan did the flag off for the first flight from Kannur International airport. Air India Express to Abu Dhabi was the first service. Kannur is the fourth international airport in the State.
Terminal was inaugurated by Chief Minister and Civil Aviation Minister. The terminal has 97000 Sq/Km of area and the runway with 3050 meter. The airport is facilitated to accommodate 2000 passengers at a stretch.
On the first day itself, the airport seemed to be densely crowded. The authorities are expecting more that a lakh people, various cultural programs have been orgnaised for the occasion. KIAL have arranged free bus services to the Airport to welcome the public to the airport.
