Sannidhanam: The historic ritual of Petta thullal will be held today. Ambalappuzha team will begin petta thullal sighting the kite encircling in the sky. Alangat team’s petta thullal will be held in the afternoon. Petta thullal, the historic ritual is conducted each year to celebrate the victory of good over evil,to celebrate the victory of Lord Ayyappa, over the demon princes Mahishi.
Petta thullal will statrt at 11 am at Erumeli Cheriyambalam.The ritual will be headed by periyon Kalathil Chandrasekharan Nair. The ritualistic dance with chanting sarana mantras will move from Cheryambalam towards Vavaru Palli and will reach at Erumeli Dharma Sastha temple via the traditional path for the ritual. The petta thullal of Ambalappuzha team will conclude there.
After sighting the stars in the sky in the afternoon, Alangad team’s ritual will be commenced. This year, the number of pilgrims moving enroute Sannidhanam is much less than that of yesteryears.
Police have been deployed in all main points and strict traffic control is announced for the smooth passage of the ritualistic dance.
