Tribal woman gives birth in ambulance

Idukki: A tribal woman named Malu of Ilambalassery tribal colony Mamalakkandam, gave birth in the ambulance on the way to the hospital in Adimali,idukki.

Malu could not be taken to the hospital on time when she felt labour pain on Sunday morning. The nearest taluk hospital in Adimali is more than 30 kilometers from the tribal colony. An ambulance was called to take Malu to the hospital but it didn’t arrive. Then Malu was transported by a jeep from the tribal colony to a midway point. Later she was taken in an ambulance from there.

But the woman gave birth in the ambulance on the way to Adimali taluk hospital. Only the woman’s husband and the driver were in the ambulance. The timely intervention of the ambulance driver saved the lives of the mother and the baby. The hospital informed that the mother and the baby survived the critical situation.
