Monsan Mavungal revealed additional information regarding the antiquities fraud case a day after KPCC president K Sudhakaran was named in the antique case. Monson stated that the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s personal secretary has also been directly involved in the case. If the case is investigated properly, the DIG will also be found guilty. He said that all the relevant documents have been handed over to the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Monson’s response came as he was about to appear in court.

On Monday, the Crime Branch named Sudhakaran the second accused in the antiquities fraud case involving Mavunkal and asked him to appear before them on Wednesday.

Following this, some senior police officers were also implicated in the case.

The crime branch had registered a fraud case against IG Guguloth Lakshman and former DIG S Surendran. Further, a report prepared by the DGP indicated that IG Lakshman had visited Monson’s residence multiple times in his official vehicle.

It was alleged that IG Lakshman stood as the middleman in Monson’s fake antique deals and tried to intervene in investigations. Following the controversy, the government suspended IG Lakshman from service. However, after 14 months, a review committee recommended the cancellation of his suspension and his reinstatement.

The investigation was prompted by multiple complaints filed by victims of Monson Mavungal’s fraudulent activities, including Yakub Purail, Siddiq Purail, Anoop V Ahmed, Salim Edam, MT Shamir, and Shanimon.
