In the situation of journalists are confronted by police, a thought-provoking discussion forum was organised by the Forum for Media Freedom. In the event, Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA) State Secretary AP Ahmed said that Kerala is moving towards dictatorship from democracy. Ahmed criticised the use of the police department as a means to suppress journalists, viewing it as a manifestation of a fascist approach.
Ahmed went on to accuse the police of carrying out orders from the chief minister, targeting media personnel in an undemocratic and anti-political manner. He strongly asserted that these actions indicate the Kerala police’s alignment with a political mafia, controlled by individuals who hold themselves above the law. He stressed that denying media workers their right to operate freely amounts to a violation of their civil rights.
Such activities clearly show that the Kerala police are part of the political mafia and are under the grip of some people who are worth more than gods.
He added that denying the right of media workers to work is a violation of civil rights.
He called upon the journalists association to join hands to raise a voice against the deniers. He added that raising conspiracy allegations against those reporting the news is not acceptable and leads to Kerala being afraid to speak and write.
Kesari Deputy Editor CM. Ramachandran presided over the discussion event.
