Thrissur: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) starts an investigation against a CPI(M) leader. An investigation has been started against the CPI(M) leader who allegedly helped aa accused involved in a crypto-currency scam amounting to Rs 50 crore in fleeing the country. The young CPI(M) leader is a representative of the local body of Thrissur and a member of the area committee. It was also discovered that a senior police officer helped in the escape of the accused.
The accused in the crypto currency fraud case, who was helped to escape abroad with the intervention of the youth leader, was a native of Wayanad. The police received information that the accused was trying to flee and go abroad. Based on this, an attempt was made to issue a look-out notice, but a senior police officer intervened and delayed it by two days. Consequently, during this interval, the accused managed to successfully escape to a foreign country.
The accused approached a mediator in Thrissur for help to escape. He met with the youth leader and negotiated a deal for two and a half crore rupees. They then sought the assistance of a police officer, offering him one crore rupees in return for his help. On the day the accused departed for overseas, the youth leader of the CPI(M) personally delivered one crore rupees to the police officer’s residence in his own vehicle.
As a consequence, a few police officers discreetly lodged a complaint with the NIA about this situation. Following this, the NIA team interrogated the mediator in Thrissur, uncovering valuable information. The NIA has stated that active efforts are underway to repatriate the accused, who has left the country.
