Thiruvananthapuram:  Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s recent visit to a movie theatre to watch Rajinikanth’s film “Jailer” has ignited a fresh wave of controversies in Kerala. The Chief Minister, accompanied by his wife Kamala, daughter Veena, and her husband, Minister PA Muhammad Riyaz, enjoyed the film at the PVR theatre in Lulu Mall, Thiruvananthapuram.

Minister Mohammad Riyaz had earlier commented that Chief Minister Vijayan often resorts to watching movies during times of heightened controversies. The timing of this outing, as the state continues to grapple with several contentious issues, has only fueled speculation about its underlying intent.

Union Minister V. Muraleedharan took the opportunity to criticise Chief Minister Vijayan, highlighting his prolonged silence on certain issues. Muraleedharan, who has been a vocal critic of the Chief Minister’s approach to governance, pointed out the Chief Minister’s son-in-law’s consistent commentary on various issues while maintaining a noticeable silence on these ongoing controversies.
