Nashwa Noushad, the daughter of the late chef and film producer Naushad, has taken a significant step by filing a formal complaint against her relatives. She alleges that her family’s rightful assets have been unlawfully seized by these relatives, leaving her in dire circumstances. The complaint outlines how even her basic educational expenses have been neglected. Expressing her distress, Nashwa took to Facebook to shed light on her plight, accompanied by a copy of the complaint submitted to the Thiruvalla Police Circle Inspector.
Tragedy struck in August 2021 with the demise of her father, Chef Noushad, followed closely by the passing of her mother just two weeks later. In the aftermath, the guardianship of Nashwa, the lone daughter, was entrusted to her relatives. However, Nashwa’s heartfelt Facebook post reveals a deeply troubling reality. She claims that her family’s properties and the catering business, which her parents had established, have been wrested away from her control.
Nashwa’s post powerfully articulates her predicament, exhibiting her struggles to manage even her basic necessities. Her relatives are providing lavish privileges for their own children. Adding to her grievances, Naswa asserts that they have also exploited her image and likeness without her consent, all for their business gains. She expresses fears that if this continues unchecked, it could lead to irreversible financial losses in the future.
Nashwa’s fervent plea is to safeguard her father’s legacy, particularly the flourishing catering business he worked tirelessly to build. The resonance of her message has sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many emphasising the pressing need for a uniform civil code. Concerns are raised over the challenges Nashwa might face in claiming her rightful share under existing Islamic law, even if she were to resort to legal means.
