Idukki: Tragedy struck the Periyar Tiger Reserve as the lifeless body of a tiger cub was found near a stream within the Vallakadav range. The carcass, estimated to be approximately a week old, has prompted authorities to initiate investigations into the circumstances surrounding the cub’s demise.
The victim of this unfortunate incident is a two-year-old tiger cub, marking yet another loss within the Periyar Tiger Reserve. As part of established protocols under the purview of the National Tiger Conservation Authority, a comprehensive post-mortem examination will be conducted.
This incident follows a recent tragedy that unfolded within the reserve: a four-year-old tiger met an untimely end after becoming ensnared in the branches of a tree. The unfortunate feline, while in pursuit of prey, found itself trapped in the tree, eventually succumbing to a heart attack.
