Kochi: Film director Kiran G. Nath (aged 48) died due to burn injuries. Hailing from Karuvatta, he was discovered dead in his residence, situated near to UC College. Family members claimed that the circumstances surrounding the death were mysterious.

Upon returning home from work, Jayalakshmi, Kiran’s wife, discovered him deceased due to burns. Connecting to the incident, she filed a complaint against local Congress leaders who were also members of the management committee of the Agricultural Rural Development Bank in Paravur taluk, where she worked. She alleged that these leaders were causing her mental distress. Relatives stated that, in the wake of the complaint, a group led by the bank board member’s brother physically assaulted Kiran recently, leading to both Kiran and his wife experiencing mental distress.

Kiran G. Nath directed the film ‘Kalamandalam Hyderaali’ in 2020. Following a post-mortem examination at Aluva District Hospital, his body was cremated. The Aluva East Police have registered a case of unnatural death in connection with the incident.
