Ernakulam: The Kerala High Court Staff Association has taken a stand against offensive comments made by lawyer Rajesh Vijayan, filing a formal complaint with the Bar Council. The lawyer’s derogatory remarks on his Facebook post, which carried a double meaning, were directed at the attire of female employees of the Kerala High Court in relation to their Onam celebrations. The insensitive comments were posted on Facebook, prompting the association to seek disciplinary action against him.
According to the complaint, Adv. Rajesh Vijayan resorted to derogatory comments that not only compared the clothing of female employees to their professional roles but also indulged in body-shaming through his Facebook posts. These comments have been met with widespread condemnation for their disrespectful and offensive nature.
The complaint further highlights that such remarks not only undermine the morale of female employees but also perpetuate a negative portrayal of women, which goes against the principles of equality and respect. Advocates are entrusted with a solemn duty to uphold the dignity of their profession and refrain from any conduct that tarnishes the image of the legal community.
