Thiruvananthapuram: A case has been filed against Intelligence Sub-Inspector (SI) Firoz Khan following allegations that he and his son physically assaulted the owner of a shoe shop and her family for selling goods at a lower price. The incident, which transpired at Pothencode Junction, has raised concerns about the use of force in a commercial dispute.
The incident unfolded on a Sunday evening, during which a woman operating a shoe shop, her husband, and their son were reportedly subjected to physical violence. The complaint alleges that a relative of SI Firoz Khan was running a shoe shop adjacent to the victim’s store. Although the shop was registered under a relative’s name, the complainant asserts that it effectively belongs to SI Firoz Khan.
Trouble began when the woman’s shop offered footwear at reduced prices for approximately an hour on that fateful Sunday. Firoz Khan and his son reportedly arrived at the shop and initiated a confrontation when they noticed a surge of customers patronising the woman’s store. According to the complaint, the situation escalated as the woman’s husband objected to the interference, resulting in physical altercations.
The complainant further alleges that SI Firoz Khan physically assaulted her, and at one point, she was kicked and fell to the ground. The injured woman and her family sought medical treatment at the Medical College Hospital following the altercation.
In response to the incident, a case has been registered against SI Firoz Khan and his son, implicating them on charges of violence against women and assault. Notably, the complaint suggests that a similar incident occurred five months ago and was subsequently resolved through mediation.
