Pathanamthitta: Devotees who flocked to Sabarimala to seek the blessings of Lord Ayyappa on the auspicious occasion of Onam were treated to a grand and sumptuous feast. The feast, a sacred offering, was graciously served to all pilgrims by the dedicated employees of the Travancore Devaswom Board. Additionally, it was prepared as an offering by the police officers who were present to ensure the sanctity and safety of the pilgrimage site on this special day.
Thiruvonam Day at Sabarimala is a momentous occasion, marked by an outpouring of devotion and fervour from countless devotees who make the journey to seek the divine blessings of Lord Ayyappa. The grand feast served on this day is a testament to the sense of community and shared spirituality that pervade the sacred grounds.
The significance of this event extends to the upcoming Chatayam day, when Malikappuram will also host a feast as an offering to Melshanti. This demonstrates the enduring commitment of the temple authorities and staff to ensure that pilgrims’ spiritual and physical needs are met with reverence and devotion.
Throughout this period, various pujas, including special ones, will be conducted at Sabarimala until the Nada (temple doors) are closed. It is a time when the air is filled with the resonance of hymns and prayers, creating an atmosphere of profound spirituality.
The final curtain falls on this period of heightened religious activity on the 31st of August, with the procession closing at 10 p.m. Each day, the Nada at Sabarimala typically closes at 1 pm, only to reopen at 5 pm, allowing devotees to partake in the sacred rituals and prayers. On the 31st, the Nada will reverberate with the soul-soothing melody of Harivarasanam as it closes at 10 p.m., marking the conclusion of these special celebrations.
