Pallakad: A huge evasion was discovered within the Palakkad KSRTC budget tourism cell as the KSRTC audit department uncovered that the cell coordinator had printed 12 fake receipt books and embezzled Rs. 1,21,110. The evasion was done by K. Vijayashankar, who served as both the conductor and budget cell coordinator of the Palakkad unit. Following the incident, he was suspended pending further investigation.
Fraudulent activities were carried out by collecting money from passengers through counterfeit receipts even prior to the scheduled bus service dates. Additionally, the audit department discovered that the earnings from these trips were not properly documented in the register. In the aftermath of the incident, the KSRTC audit department is conducting a comprehensive examination of all cash transactions within the budget tourism service cell, which commenced on November 15, 2021, at the Palakkad depot. Furthermore, the corporation’s internal department has initiated its own investigation into the matter. Additionally, an inquiry will be conducted to ascertain if there are any other individuals involved in the fraudulent activities.
