A Kochi municipal employee was arrested in a bribery case. Sumin, a senior clerk at the Vytila Zonal Office’s Revenue Department, was arrested for accepting a bribe from the Mimicry Association in exchange for facilitating an ownership certificate.
Before commencing their office operations, the Mimicry Artists Association had submitted an application for a Certificate of Ownership. Sumin had received Rs 900 from the office bearers when they submitted the application. Later, Sumin demanded an additional payment of 2,000 rupees to issue the certificate, prompting the mimicry artists to report the incident to the vigilance authorities.
Subsequently, officials arrived at the office with the marked notes provided by the vigilance authorities. As soon as the vigilance team arrived, Sumin attempted to conceal the bribe money under his shoes, but his attempt was unsuccessful. The vigilance authorities received information suggesting that Sumin had accepted bribes on previous occasions as well.
