Allegations over rights on ‘Freak Penne’ of ‘Oru Adar Love’; music director Sathyajith K accuses Shaan Rahman for not giving him credits

Prominent singer and music director Sathyajith K has leveled serious allegations against renowned composer Shaan Rahman. The accusations revolve around the hit song “Freak Penne” from the 2019 film ‘Oru Adar Love’ directed by Omar Lulu.

Taking to Facebook, Sathyajith K publicly accused Shaan Rahman of usurping the song and releasing it under his own name without due credit. In a video shared on social media, Sathyajith even claimed to have sung the song at Kottayam Government Polytechnic in 2015, four years before its inclusion in the film.

Sathyajith alleges that while he received credit for the lyrics and vocals in ‘Oru Adar Love,’ he was not acknowledged for composing the tune. According to him, this song had been composed by him years before the movie’s release. However, the film’s music director, Shaan Rahman, asserted that he had provided the melody for the song. Sathyajith alleges that when he raised the issue, Shaan Rahman responded with harsh words. Sathyajith said that he only wanted the rights of being the creator of the tune also.

The accusations have sparked a considerable response from both the music industry and the public. Many individuals have expressed their support for Sathyajith, with a growing consensus that legal action should be taken to address the matter.

Sathyajith’s statement on Facebook sheds light on a behind-the-scenes issue in the music industry, where creative contributions can sometimes go uncredited or disputed. He claims that in the past, he lacked evidence to substantiate his claim, but now he is determined to unveil the truth.

In his Facebook post, Sathyajith stated, “This is for those who still believe that the music of this song is composed by music director Shaan Rahman, but that’s not the case.” He continued, “The song was released as part of the 2019 film Oru Adar Love. The music director of the film claimed that he composed the music for this song. The crew of the film accused me of false claim on the song. However, I am the composer, lyric writer and singer of this song…”
