Kochi: The High Court (HC) intervenes in the case of Sheela Sunny, the owner of a beauty parlour who was caught in a fake drug case and imprisoned for 72 days. The HC has stayed the arrest of the relative Lydia in connection with trapping of Sheela Sunny in the fake case. The court has sought an explanation from the Excise and Crime Branch into the case. After receiving the explanation, further action will be taken.
The arrest was stayed following the anticipatory bail application submitted by Lydia to the HC alleging that Excise was trying to frame her in a false case. According to Lydia’s bail application, she is being threatened by the investigation team to forcefully make her a suspect in the case and thus get her arrested. The team had already questioned her twice before. At the same time, Lydia is also making serious allegations against Sheela Sunny. She claimed that Sheela had demanded money from her sister.
Sheela Sunny had been arrested and jailed for 72 days for keeping in possession the deadly drug LSD stamp. Later, in a chemical test, it was revealed that the thing found in Sheela’s bag was not an LSD stamp. Following this, an investigation was initiated to identify the sender of the false information.
