New Delhi: Akashvani former news presenter and Malayalam wing chief Gopan alias Gopinathan Nair passed away in New Delhi. He was 79. He had been under treatment for cardiac issues.
Gopinathan Nair had served at Akashvani around forty years. He had worked at Delhi Akashvani’s Malayalam wing from 1962 to 2001. He had dubbed for various advertisements and his different voice and expressive words of ‘lung is like sponge’, for the Malayalam ad for public awareness on impacts of smoking got wide attention and appreciation.
Gopinathan Nair is survived by wife Radha and son Pramod. Cremation will be held at Lodhi Road crematorium at 5 pm today.
