Thiruvananthapuram: In a seminar held during the ‘Drishya Narendram’ event in Thiruvananthapuram, Dr. Gopakumar, former Vice Chancellor of the Central University of Kerala, expressed his views on the transformative aspects of the new National Education Policy (NEP).
Dr. Gopakumar highlighted that the primary objective of the new NEP is to equip students with skills that make them employable on a global scale. Addressing a diverse audience, he emphasised the policy’s commitment to adapting teacher training to keep pace with the evolving curriculum. According to him, these changes are pivotal in fostering an educational environment that prepares students for diverse opportunities worldwide.
Despite the policy’s significant implications for education, Dr. Gopakumar noted a lack of discussions about the NEP in the state.
AICTE Advisor Dr. Ramesh Unnikrishnan clarified an essential aspect of the new NEP, stating that it allows for the development of skills based on a child’s individual interests. This flexibility aligns with the policy’s broader vision of promoting a personalised and holistic approach to education.
The ongoing ‘Drishya Narendram’ event will continue until October 2 at the Chandrasekaran Nair Stadium Auditorium and encompasses a range of activities, including exhibitions, seminars, and art programs. The event was organised to celebrate the 73rd birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
