Thiruvananthapuram: The Department of Higher Education has officially announced that college students are free to choose their attire based on comfort and decency. This decision comes in response to recent complaints from students who felt insulted due to dress code-related issues, including incidents where principals enforced strict clothing rules. Additionally, concerns were raised regarding the introduction of uniforms at Thiruvananthapuram Government Training College. Subsequently, actions have been taken to address these concerns.
The Director of College Education has issued an official order affirming the new dress code policy. The order also explicitly permits students attending B.Ed. colleges to dress comfortably and decently during their teacher training programmes.
