Kochi: The Kochi Municipality has put forth a demand for renaming the Ernakulam Junction railway station. The municipal council has subsequently passed a resolution supporting this proposal.
The resolution specifically advocates naming the railway station after Rajarshi Ramavarman, the former Maharaja of Kochi. The council points out that Rajarshi Ramavarman played a pivotal role in the construction of the railway track from Shoranur to Ernakulam.
The municipal authorities are set to formally request both the central and state governments, as well as the Indian Railways for renaming the railway station.
