THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: It is reported that CPI(M) activists forcefully shut down a newly opened beverage outlet that had been relocated from Attappallam to Chelimada in the Idukki district. The outlet’s operations were abruptly shut down within just one hour of its relocation due to protests.
The CPI(M) activists were protested against the decision to shift the outlet from a building owned by a CPI(M) leader in Attappallam to Chelimada. Previously, the outlet had been operating in a building owned by a CPI(M) leader in Attappallam. However, yesterday, it was relocated to Chelimada.
The CPI(M) activists were demanding that the outlet be moved back to Attappallam, arguing that the two-and-a-half-year contract, which had been violated, was unacceptable.
But the Bevco, the organization responsible for the outlet, justified the relocation by pointing to the potential for increased sales with the influx of more tourists at Chelimada.
Bevco also reported that the Corporation had generated an income of Rs.1 lakh from the Chelimada outlet within the first hour of its operation.
