Thrissur: Police arrested five individuals in connection with the illegal killing and cooking of turtle meat in Methala, near Kodungallur. The turtle meat was seized from Shanmukhan’s residence in Mullezhath, located near the Methala Anchapalam Keraleswaram temple. The meat of five turtles was confiscated.

The suspects were apprehended while they were in the process of preparing turtle meat after killing the turtles. The Pariyaram Konnakuzhi Forest Mobile Squad arrested the culprits. The accused were attempting to cook black turtles and protected white ones. Their arrest followed an investigation prompted by a tip-off.

The Methala locals, identified as Shameer, Radhakrishnan, Murugan, Rasal, and Shanmukhan’s son Sibeesh, were taken into custody in connection with the incident. The first suspect, Shanmukhan, in the case was exempt from arrest due to their age. The incident occurred yesterday evening.
