Recent news reports have highlighted instances where vehicle ownership is changed without the owner’s awareness shortly after the purchase. In response to this growing issue, the Department of Motor Vehicles (MVD) has issued a crucial warning to safeguard vehicle owners from such incidents.
The MVD advises all vehicle owners to link their mobile numbers with Aadhaar and add this information to the vehicle details on the Parivahan website. Furthermore, updating the mobile number is necessary for tax payment and registration renewal.
To facilitate this process, the MVD has introduced a mobile number update module on the Parivahan website. However, it’s important to note that if there is a discrepancy between the name and information in the RC Book (Registration Certificate) and Aadhaar, updating the mobile number through this module is not possible. In such cases, vehicle owners can submit an application for updating their mobile numbers through the ‘update mobile number done at RTO’ module.
