Kozhikode: In spite of ongoing restrictions, the traffic jam at Thamarassery Churam (a mountain pass) shows no signs of abating. The situation deteriorated further following the breakdown of a KSRTC Volvo bus and a goods truck, causing traffic disruption since last night.
The incident unfolded as the Volvo bus, descending the mountain pass at approximately 11 p.m., experienced a mechanical failure between the 6th and 7th turns of the mountain pass. Consequently, traffic was limited to one lane.
Subsequently, this morning, a goods truck traversing the mountain pass suffered damage, bringing traffic to a complete standstill. At present, traffic management is being overseen by mountain pass NDRF volunteers and police, who are diligently working to clear the passage for both vehicles.
